Miss Elsy Treweek, the popular vocalist, who is not unknown to Wellington <miM|ic lovers, and her husband, Mr. Fred Collier, also a vocalist, are going Home, where they will give their small daughter a musical training. Miss Collier, has a beautiful voice and a faultless ear, and her parents are desirous of 'developing her talents. The marriage took place at St. Mary's .Church, Hawera, recently of Lieutenant Harry Lament, V.0., and Miss Ethel Montgomery, of Willesden Green, Lon~ don. Lieutenant L. Andrews, V.C., .gave the bride away, and his wife attended, in V.A.D. uniform in honour of the bride. Lieutenant J. G. Grant, V.C., was best man. The guard of honour wore full unifoimi and medals, and formed am arch outside the church. A children's fancy-da-ess party is to be held at Government House early next ■\v-eek. Entertainment Committee of the Early Settlers' Association held a daincesociatat Dustin's HaM last night.. The, committee, Mesdam.es- Vine, Moore, and' M'Gowan, are to be congratulated on. the success of the evening. Musical items were given, and Mrs. Pollock, Petone, played. * ITio fifth annual gathering of the Weilington Returned.'- Soldiers' Association takes place on Monday night in the Town Hall, in the presence of His Excellency the\ Governor-General and Viscountess Jeliicoe and a party of eight from Government House. The Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) haa also intimated his intention of being present. The Highland Pipe Band will play, as in previous years, for the Highland schottische. At a meeting of the committee yesterday, reports, were received, and _ from all aspects the function .promises to be one of the most successful yet held. The committee accepted the offer of Miss Earle to play extras, assisted by a well-known flautist. The ■function is one; of more than usual interest, as it ofiofs an opportunity to comrades-in-arms and their lady friends to meet in social enjoyment. Excellent arrangements have been made, ensuring excellence of floor, supper service, and means of, transport after the ball. A marriage- of interest to settlers throughout the district was celebrated Bit the residence; of the bride's parents, when Miss Mary Scott, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Scott, of Kokotau, was married to Frank Herbert M'Nab, eldest eon of Mrs. P. M'Nab, of Featherston. Miss Dorothy Scott (sister of ■the brjde) attended as bridesmaid. Mr. /Cecil M'Nab was,.best'man, and the Rev. E. J. Tipler the officiating clergyman. At an interval in the proceedings Mr. L. T. Coberaft, of Featlverston, presented the bridegroom with a handsome travelling rug from his. employer, Mr. W. Tinney, aJso of Featherston, and Mr. M'Nab suitably acknowledged tho gift. Mr. and Ma Frank H. M'Nab left for Auckland, where they are spending the honeymoon. On tjheir return, they will take up their residence in iFeatherston.

Dr. Agnes Bennett delivered an interesting lecture on "Food" to a large attendance of members of the Wellington South Nursing Division and visitors on Tuesday evening, stressing the importance of the necessary vitamines in food. After going into the subject very thoroughly, she answered questions put t» her, and, in conclusion, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A home nursing class was announced to begin on Wednesday in the Newtown Library, and members were invited to attend a practical demonstration by Miss Rennie, on sickroom cookery, at the end of the month.
