SUPERANNUATED PUBLIC SERVANTS

WELLINGTON BRANCH.

The Wellington branch of the New •Zealand Association of Superannuated Public Servants held its annual meeting in the Town Hall Council Chamber yesterday afternoon, the president (Captain iW. de It. Barclay) being in the chair..The repprt and balance-sheet, details of which have been published, were read and adopted.

Officers for the ensuing yea,r were elected as follow :—President, Captain Barclay; . vice-president, Mr. H. E. Gilbert; secretary and treasurer, Mr. George Wovsfold; executive, Messrs. J. B. Arniit. G. Girling Butcher, E. C. Hyde, W. Makin, and F. W. Revel].

The chairman and members of the exeicntive stressed the points that their work had been in the interests of all superannuated public servants, and that the proposals to come before the conference to be held shortly included the sliding-scale principle. Only in the cases of those having had .15 years' minimum service were increases to be asked. It was- hoped that Parliament would support the proposals. An appeal was made for increased membership. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Civil Service Club for its generosity in allowing the association the use of a meeting room, free of charge.
