JASCHA HEIFETZ.
A musical event of exceptional interest is the appearance to-night in the Town Hall, under the direction of Messrs. J- and N. Tait, of the worldfamous violinist, Jascha Heifetz, who will give the first of the three recitals. The booking shows that a large audience will greet the genius of the violin. Mr. Heifetz and party arrived to-day from Rotorua. He was much impressed with the wonders of the thermal, region. Recognising that the public of Wellington would have but three recitals, Mr. Heifetz has arranged special programmes, and that for this evening is a particularly fine one, commencing with Handel's "Sonata in D Major," followed by the Wieniawski "Concerto in D Minor" (Op. 22). Schubert's "Aye Maria" will no doubt prove a very popular number, and with Mozart's'* "Minuet," the Chopin-Wilhelmj "Nocturne in D Minor" and "Chorus of the Dervishes,"' the "Turkish March" by Beethoven-Aver, and Bazzini's "Ttonde dcs Lutins," to which will be added several extra numbers. Additional recitals will be given on Monday next and Thursday, 25th. Musical students and scholars are reminded of the concessions offered, and five shilling tickets for to-night's recital may be purchased at Ned Perry's, where late reservations may also be made.
