SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS
About forty veterans of the South African -War met at Dustin's Rooms last evening at an exceedingly pleasant and cheery informal social Mr. T. "Halpin was in the- chair. Addressing the gathering, he said that meetings like these would, .help to bring the veterans into closer touch with each other. He had often heard that AVellington took .no interest in its South African veterans, butv.he desired this to be rectified, and he hoped that at the coming, Dominion conference, interest in the association would be stimulated. Numerous toasts were honoured, and the evening was spent very pleasantly spanning "yarns" and singing songs.
A public meeting of the ne.vf party is announced for tho 24th of this month to be held at the Town Hall. Mr. C. E. Statham, M.P., tho loader, will then inaugurate a series of public meetings throughout (he Dominion, when the full policy of the party will bo'submitted to the country.
