WOOL MARKET

Reporting on the wool market as on 13th August, the High Commissioner cables from London:—
"Bradford, better tone reported, though very little new business. ' Manufacturers still unable to clear their highpriced stocks. . Present quotations for tops are:—64\s (merino)'. 13th. August, 3s; 25th June, 3s 7d • 56's (super halfbred), 13th August, 2s Id; 25th June, 2s 6d ; 40's prepared (coarse crossbred), 13th August, Is; 25th June, lsld."
The Press Association reports that the. third series of sales in Sydney have closed." Good merinos and flue 'ciossbreds were unchanged, but coarse atid inferior lots wore irregular. >. In a private letter, receiveM here yesterday, a Boston banker writes-:—"The wool markets here a'Ve still very inactive at low prices, and the mills are running on a hand-to-mouth basis. Due to the anticipation of emergency tariff, tremendous quantities of wools Wore 'imported during the first half of this -year, with the result that, at the present time tti» mftrtet i 6 flutM with temm wuels <a< til MJfU. - . ;
