With reference to the telegram from Christchurch reporting an outbreak of influenza among ships' crews at Lyttelton, inquiry from the Aucklarifl officers of the Health Department showed that no influenza has been reported from the..' shipping in thir port. In riew -'of the existence of the disease in the Pacific ' Islands, instructions have been : issued for particularly careful watch to'be kept ah shipping, but no,trace of the disease, has been found. So far as the situation on shore is concerned, the authorities are not aware of influenza being prevalent. Ordinary- cases, are not now reported. Pneumonic cases have (been no greater in number than is regarded as normal at the present season. .'..,'
