Tho great military base at Kantara, from which the British built a military railway through tho desert to Palestine, is being dismantled. The line, of course, is permanent. During the war the Suez Canal was crossed by a large swing bridgo, which is cow to bo removed. Connection between the Egyptian railways and the new lino to Palestine will bo maintained by means of a tunnel ' whioh will bo built below the Suez Canal. A lecture will be delivered on Friday next by Mr. D. S. Smith, M.A., LL.M., on "Company Law" before the members of the Wellington Accountant Students' Society, as advertised. Messrs. Dunbar Sloane and Jones will will auction furniture of 8 rooms at 162, Sydney-atreot to-morrow, at 1.30 p.m.
