RECORD SALMON RUN
This sea.soh's; run' of salmon is the largest we have yet experienced in New Zealand (states the manager of the Hakatarameia salmon station} in. a report to the fisheries branch of the Marine Department). Tne salmon were also' larger in size, many of the fish, both at the Dobson and Ahuriri Rivers being from 4ft to Ift 4in in, length; ' The total number of eggs collected, not including Pembroke, was 1,122,000, being as follow:—Hake; 293,000; AJiuriri, 389,000; ,and Dobson, 451,000. The distribution was as follows:—Hokitika and Wairau Rivers, 400,000 each, and Pem-' .broke, 250,000. The balance is now being hatched out for retention in pondsand distribution at Hakataramea.
