BAD WEATHER ABOUT
The three words of the heading sum up the weather position to-day. The southern part of the Dominion was affected on Saturday evening by a ..decided westerly storm, and districts with a westerly aspect were visited by heavy rain brought by strong and squally winds. The high lands received snow, and snow was still falling- at Bealey and a few other places this morning. There was a decided improvement in the weather in tho neighbourhood of Cook Strait yosterday—hence the fine weather in Wellington—but in the north and south this was less apparent. To-day's conditions are more threat""eniiiß in the north. The barometer is unsteady in the south, and the riso which is likely soon will probably be preceded by a fall. The rUi6s is due to riso in the north. Cold:, changeable, and showery conditions are to be expected, with a vory cold night. Moderate to stronpc southerly winds, squally at times in many parts, are likely, and the seas will be heavy south of Castlepoint and on all the western coast. ■ ]
