. Mr. Sastri (an Indian delegate to the Imperial Conference) has been appointed a 'Privy Councillor. Mr. -E. S. Montagu (Secretary for, India), in an interview with the Australian Press Association, said that the Imperial Conference contributed largely to the good relationship wifti India, especially! the recognition of the status :'of citizenship. "We will long remember Messrs. Hughes, Massey, and Meighen for their ready acceptance of India as a sister Commonwealth, and the Imperial atmosphere which, marked their contributions to the disoussions. They put before the Conference their views as to the special circumstances of their respective States, and the determination to ■harmonise those with the interests of the Empire." Mr. Montagu hoped the whole Empire would ultimately accept citizenship. The Governments of Australia and ■INew Zealand have assured Mr. Sastri of a cordial welcome when he visits Fiji and the Dominions. Mr. Hughes has invited him to discuss the matter of India's status with the Australian Parliament.
