BROOKLYN FREE KINDERGARTEN BUILDING FUND
A\ concert i was held recently in the Baptist schoolroom, in aid of the Brooklyn Free Kindergarten Building Fund. There was a large and enthusiastic audience. In the first half items were con-, tributed by Mesdames T. Coventry, W. J. Coventry, and I. Goldsmith, Misses J. Lees and M. Jackson, and Messrs. Laycock and Richardson. The second, half took the form of a troupe, under the able leadership 'of Mr. Albort Pickett. The chorus stirred the audience to enthusiasm, which lasted throughout. Tho humorous quintette, ". The Cottage by the Sea," by Messrs.. Prouse, Bennett, Parsons, Woodhouse, and Pickett, was a great success. Soprano solos were rendered by Misses May and Evelyn Pickett, which, were much enjoyed, as was also the vocal duet, " Harbour Lights," by Mr 3. W. Coventry and Mr. A. L. Pickett. Mr. C. Parsons was decidedly comical in his " clerical" turns, and the duet, " X-l-seor," by Signors " Twopees," which included some very clever patter, was excellent. The hunting trio, " Tallyho!" by Messrs. Prouse, Woodhouse, and Pickett, was another favourite. Mrs. T. A. Coventry was tho official accompanist. Great credit is due to Mr. W. Sewell as secretary of the Kindergarten, and all the others who helped to promote a successful entertainment, helping along ' the cause for the children. '
