For assisting the American steamer Tashmoo in the North Atlantic last April, the Supreme Court, on the 2nd June last awarded the owners of' the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Stephens £10,000, with £800 for the master and £2400 for the crew. The Port Stephens, which will be in New Zealand waters shortly, was on her way from Melbourne to Hull with a cargo of 7030 ton's of produce, when she picked up the Tashmoo and towed her 1200 miles across the Atlantic to Queenstown, under severe weather conditions.
The twenty-fourth anniversary of the Kent-terraco Presbyterian Sunday School will be celebrated to-morrow by special services to be held in the church. Rev. James' Baird, 8.A., will preach in the morning, and the Ksv. Dr. J. Kennedy Elliottin the evening. In the afternoon, at 3 o'clock, an additional service' will bo held, when the Sunday/School, Bible Classes and parents will' meet. The servico will be conducted by the Rev. It. H. Catherwood.
