MUNICIPAL GOLF
FAVOURABLE COMMENT ON NEW
COURSE.
Although the extensions to the municipal golf course at Berhampore have been completed, the full 18 holes will not be available for play for some time yet. A number of prominent golfers recently inspected the additions to the course, which, they describe in most complimentary terms. One of their number stated to a Post representative to-day that the general design of the new course was most satisfactory. The second hole and the sixth hole were each longer than any of the holes on the old course. The fourth hole was a short one, but it was well guarded all round, and there was a natural bunker in front of it. Some magnificent views were to be obtained from the top of the hills, and for that reason alone the links should be highly popular. The course is laid out in such a way that all the climbing is done on easy grades, and descents were over the steepest portions. For a start there was bound to be a certain amount of prejudice against the new course, but this would soon disappear as the course became better known and its distinct merits were recognised. The old course was now in an excellent condition.
