LAND VALUATIONS
SAID TO BE EXCESSIVE,

TAIHAPI', 11th August. A large and representative meeting of settlers was held at Taihape on Wednesday evening, at which the following motion were carried unanimously: "That in view of the recent fall in ' land values, as borne out by the president of the Land Valuations Assessment Court held at Marton, the Valuer-General be urged to reconsider the excessive valuations on land in the four northern ridings of Rangitikei County. Further, that to avoid the delay that woulcj. be involved in a new valuation, the ValuerGeneral be requested to make a substantial percentage reduction in* the valuations of all lands in the said riding." ■. ' '
