VICTORIA COLLEGE
MEETING OF COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Victoria University College Council was held last night, when there were present:—Messrs. P. Levi (chairman), C. Watson, T. ' Forgyth, F. H. Baiewell, E. K. Lome*, C. H. Taylor, M.'.F. Lnckie, and Professorg' Hunter and Adamson..
It was.decided to insure all members of the staff against accident. The Department of Education v-rote expressing satisfaction that the cotmcil didi not. press for a grant for additional lecture-room accommodation in, the_ new wing. Tho application is to remain in abeyance for the. present. A i statement concerning finance wai made by the chairman. He said Uie actual expenditure would be somsw.iat greater than the ordinary revenue; but there were several items, such as architect's fee (£250), cost of women's room (£103), large grants for laboratories and libraries that were not wholly chargeable to this year. Allowing for these items, they would probably just meet their expenditure; bat there would be no surplus. .- ... The chairman was nominated as the; council's' representativ* on the Carter Bequest Committee.
