ORGAN RECITAL.
The organ at St. James's Church, Rintoul-street, is regarded as one of the best in this city, and last evening the services of Mr. Maughan Barnett, Auckland City Organist, were secured for a recital. Mr. Barnett's interpretation of the various items left nothing to be desired. The choice of numbers provided plenty of scope for Mr. Barnett's capabilities, and the audience was very well satisfied with his repertoire. Among the numbers specially worthy of mention were "Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor" (Bach), "Suite Gothique" (Boollmann), Coreilli's "Gavotte," so popular with violinists, and "Seranata" (Wolstenholme). Other works played were: "Carillon and Legende" (Vierne), "Andante in D" (Silas), a Celtic hymn, and a inarch composed by the organist, himself. '
