The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Chronicle reports that Heligolanders intend to appeal to the League of Nations for independence. They have memorialised the German public, stating that conditions were satisfactory until the British handed the islands over to Germany, then they wero unhappy. When the islanders returned after the armistice they found the conditions uns happier still. Their homes had been spoiled, industries ruined, new taxation introduced, and German police, and workmen jiad arrived, importing chaos.
