EXITS AT ATHLETIC PARK
A suggestion regarding improvements to exits at the Athletic Park was received by the Wellington Rngby Union last evening from the Town Clerk as follows :—"By direction of the Wellington City Council, T am to suggest to your union the desirability of setting back the gates at the Athletic Park for a little distance and to round off the. corners in order to enable the crowds attending the big football matches to have improved means of egress. At present the people are forced, straight out on to the road among the tramcars, etc.,, whereas if the gates were altered somewhat as suggested, it would be possible for them to swerve round and remain on the footpath." The Chairman (Mr. J. Prendeville) considered that the trouble was due to people crowding to one exit. If advice given them regarding the western and southern exits were acted upon, there would not'be so much congestion. Mr. J. N. Millard thought that the public would be educated slowly. It was decided to meetSMr. Morton (City Engineer) at the Park and discuss the matter with him.
