LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION
GENERAL ASSEMBLY URGED - TO ACT.
The Wellington Presbytety met in St. Andrew's Schoolroom last evening. The Rev. D. J. Shaw (Moderator) presided. Before the businma was begun the Moderator extended the welcome of the Presbytery to the Rev., James Baird, who yfaa a newcomer in New Zealand, and ,was now present for the first time at a full meeting of the Presbytery. The Rev. Dr. Gibb moved that the. Presbytery should send to the General Assembly, at its meeting in November, a copy of the Presbytery's resolution of 10th May, urging the formation of a Jjeague of Nations Union in the congregations within the bounds of the Presbytery, and to urge the Assembly bo take the whole subject into consideration, to set up a committee to secure the co-operation of every church in N»w Zealand, and to initiate an active comipaign oil behalf of the union by meajis of the selection, preparation, and distribution of relevant literature by holding public meetings, and by taking such other steps as may be needful to impress the people of this country with a sense of the danger of the outbreak of lanother world war, and to secure their whole-hearted support of the existing League of Nations or auoh other league as shall lead to uniTorsad disarmament and the establishment of the peace of the world on a sure foundation." The motion was seconded by the Rev. ,W. Day, *nd was adopted without disoussion. The meeting discussed the Lambeth Conference appeal, and these proceedings are reported separately.
