WELLINGTON RED CROSS EXECUTIVE
Tho Hon. Dr. Collins presided' at n meeting of the Wellington Executive of the Red Cross Society yesterday afternoon. A report of the conference with other societies to prevent overlapping in work and expenditure was given. A statement of the monthly expenditure, of £30 was received from Miss Thurstoii, matron of Trentham Hospital. It Was decided that an expenditure on the Red Cross Chambers in connection with the roof, etc. ) was necessary. Accounts to the amount of a little over £600 were passed. The Emergency Committee reported that matters in connection with tho Cashmere Hospital had been dealt with. The extra cost of removing the workshop to Cashmere Hills Sanatorium, entailing a sum of £21 10s 3d above what had been estimated (making a total of £161 10s 3d), was agreed to. As the Vocational Department is discontinuing the supply of material for soldiers' work at, Dunedin and Pleasant. Valley Hospital and the" Montecillo and YYoodend Convalescent Home, a communication was received from tho Dunedin Red Cross Executive, per Brigadier-General Sir Donald M'Gavin, offering to undertake the work and take over the tools supplied by the Red Cross Society. It was agreed that the tools be handed over to the Dunedin Executive, "on charge," by the New Zealand Executive. The Director of Medical Training advised that the Pukeora Military Sanatorium was being transferred to the Public Health Department) and the vocational training at that centre will in future be controlled by that Department. He asked whether the society would agree to the tools and equipment being handed over "oh-charge" to the medical officer at Pukeora. This was agreed to.
