REFEREE FOR FIRST TEST
The secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr. H. E. Combs) stated to-day that Mr. E. M'Kenzie, of Carterton, Wairarapa, had been appointed referee of the first Test match, Springboks v. New Zealand, at Dunedin on Saturday next. Mr.' M'Kenzie controlled the Wellington-Springboks' match at the Athletic Park. The final choice of a referee is left to the manager of the visiting team (Mr. Bennett), and he has selected the referee from those who have acted in matches in which, the Springboks have played.
