Marine cooks and stewards
WANT TO JOIN UP.
The Marine' Cooks and Stewards' Federation recently took a ballot on the question of linking up with the Alliance of Labour. The verdict was favourable to the Alliance, and it is understood that application for affiliation has now been made. Should the application be granted it will strengthen the Transport Workers' Department of the Alliance, of which the marine cooksl and stewards will then form a part. The cooks and stewards will have representation on the Transport Worker!;' Advisory Board,which) in turn, is affiliated with the Alliance of Labour. The Transport Department already includes the seamen, the waterside Workers, the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, the drivers, and the tramwaymon,: all of whom are organised on a national bnsis Nothing further has yet been dotio in connection with the proposed amalgamation of the Alliance of/Labour and the New Zealaiitl Workers' Union. It is understood that the scheme suggested lias beet) referred to the executive of the New, Zealand Workers' Uiiioti, which has not yet given a defiliilo reply to the Alliance.
