PRIEST HELD FOR RANSOM.

Bandits at Hackensack, New Jersey, stole a 40,000-dollar payroll. Highwaymen at Altamont, Illinois, held up a train and stole 15,000 dollars from the mail car. Kidnappers at Colma, California, abducted the Rev. Patrick Heslin, holding him for 50,000 dollars' ransom. Robbers stole 15,000 dollars from a bank in Long Island City, New York. A sheriff's posse at Cleveland arrested five ti'ain robbers in connection with the theft of 50,000 dollars from a.mail ,car during the hold-up of■« New ■'YorkPittsburg train. . . - , -(HBOIER»S TBLEtMAM.) SAN FRANCISCO, 6th August. . Father Patrick Heslin, a well-known Catholic priest, disappeared, and Archbishop Hanna received an unsigned note demanding a ransom of 50,000 dollars, and threatening death to Father Heslin if the, money was not delivered. The, note said that the priest was held in a cabin south of San Francisco, where aero-. planes, bloodhounds, and mounted police are searching. _
