JULY FIGURES FOR WELLINGTON.

The return of infectious diseases for the Wellington health district shows that during July 235 cases were leported to the Department,- an increase of 38 on the previous month's figures. There was no material cluinge during the month in the number of cases of scarlet fever, diphtheria, and varicella (chickenpox), . the three most prevalent diseases, but the pnuemonia notifications were trebled, increasing from 10 to 30. There were five cases of enteric fever notified during the month, but no fresh cases of hydatida. Hydatids cases numbered five during the previous month.

Wairarapa.—Scarlet fever, 5; diphtheria, 6; enteric fever, 1; tuberculosis, 1; pneumonia, 7; varicella, 11.

Wairau.—Scarlet fever, 1; diphtheria, 1; puerperal septicaemia, 1.

Nelson.—Scarlet fever, 3; diphtheria, 9; enteric fever, 1; influenza, 2.
