VICE-REGAL.

His Excellency the Governor-General (Admiral Viscount- Jellicoe) is to visit Ashburton and Methven on Monday, and will be accorded civic receptions at both places. The Hon. W. i Nosworthy (Min^ ister. of. Agriculture), already in the South Island, will attend the reception at Ashburton, and Sir Haaton Rhodes (Minietcr of Defence) left Wellington, laat night for the purpose of attending that at Methven. ■ ■' , ' ;

The Hon. J. G. ,Coates (Minister of Public Works) will leave, for Auckland and his electorate on Monday. He will return to Wellington about 16th August.

Mr: T. K. Sidey, M.P., will return to Diinedin from Queensland at tftie end of the ihonth.

Mi 1. H. N. Davis, of the Carterton Post Office staff, has received notice or his transfer to Wellington.

Mr. J. W. Macdonald, Public Trustee, who is making an official visit to Auckland, is expected to return to Wellington on Thursday.

The Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) will visit Masterton, Cartertim, Greytown, and Fafuatua to hold Confirmation services, in the latter part of Ootober.

Mr. R. W. Porter, Chief Postmaster at Invercargill, has received notice of his transfer to the position of Chief Postmaster at Wanganui. Mr. Porter entered the service as a cadet in 1878, and for most of his period of service has been stationed in Invercargill.

The Eev. Wyndliam S. Heathcote, who has been for some time preaching at the Unitarian Free Church, Wellington, is concluding his stay here this month. Ho will go to Timsru for a month/ and intends then to-go to San Francisco to begin a lecturing and preaching tour in the United. States.

Mr. W. H. UooKer, v.A., son of the Rev. J. Cocker, of Otahuhu, gained his IjL.B. with first-class honours at the Te : cent Cambridge University examinations and was also elected a scholar of the college. Mr. Cocker, who is. an old-boy of the Auckland Grammar School, seSuxed hfs degree bofore leaving New Zealand, anil has' now gained the same degree at the Cambridge University. He expects to return to New Zealand shortly. . -

■ The Rev. E. Rosalind Lee, a lady minister, is expected in Wellington shortly. Miss Lee, who is the daughter of an English M.P., is a graduate of Newniham College, Cambridge, and postgraduate' of, Harvard University, U.S.A. 1 She attended the "Mayflower^' tercentenary celebrations at Boston as a repre tentative. >of . the British and Foreign Unitarian Association, and has since been touring in Canada and the Western States, visiting the Unitarian congregations there. From Wellington Miss Lee will go to Timaru, Christchurch.. Dunedin, and Auckland, and to Australia. >
