Sir, —On Friday night there appeared in your columns a criticism, signed "J.C.8.,7. of the musical polioy pursued by the Choral Union—a criticism with which I am in cordial agreement, and so, I am sure," iB a largo number of the members of the union- itself. It is certainly time the committee woke up to the fact that choral music is not confined to the wellbeaten track they have been treading'with such remorseless persistency for bo many j weary years. 0 slumbrous committee 1 Bub the dust out of your heavy-lidded eyes and learn that there is such a thing as progress! Or if that is impossible, murmur from your coma some justification of your too, too unoriginal choice of a festival programme. Alas for Wellington music at ordinary hum-drum times if this is what we are to get at a festive occasion, which is apparently designed to stimulate interest in tho glorious art of whioh the Choral Union has been in past, years quite a distinguished exponent!
