THE JOCKEYS' ASSOCIATION.

The following, circular letter he,s been issued by Mr. C. C. Sheath, secretary of '-the New Zealand Jockeys' Association, to the members of that body:— "All attempts by the ex^ciutive to .wind up the association halving failed, therefore there is only one way in which we hope' to bring the association to an end, find that is for you to send me your resignation.

"I y therefore, enclosa you a form of resignation for you to sign—please sign same and post to mtt at once by registered post.

"The Racing Conference has had brought under its no£ice by the association your conditions, and' has greatly improved same, and I am certain that in future any matters affecting' your conditions as a jockey, that you bring under the notice of the New Zealand Racing Conference or the stipendiary stewards, will receive fair and just consideration.

"Tho fact of your increased riding fees and better conditions that have been granted you since the association came into existence is clear proof that the money you have been called upon to pay to cover the costs of securing these benefits lias not been wasted.

"I have given an undertaking to the executive, of the association that I shall only remain secretary until such time as the whole of the debts of the association are paid, and I, therefore, make a final appeal to you to pay what you owe the association at once, so that I can be freed from the association, and also that your executive can wind up the association.

"Again, let me warn you that your resignation is worthlesss unless you pay the whole of the fees, you owe to the association tip to arid including the day on which the six months' notice expires. If you are late in paying, your resigna-, tion takes no, effect, and you continue to 1)0 a member, and liable still to continue to pay 5 per cent, of your earnings to the association, and the Courts have decided that there is no defence in law to tho association's . claim for such moneys."
