FOOTBALL ON THE BASIN RESERVE
When reporting to last: night's .meeting of the Wellington llugby Union's Management Committee about the conference of sports bodies regarding the allocations for the Basin Reserve, Mr. J. Prendeville (chairman of the -union) drew attention to the fact that the League had suggested'that his . signature had not been, honoured by the Rugby Union. Mr. Prendeville explained the whole position, and emphasised the point that while he had agreed-to the League's use. of the 1 Basin Reserve next Saturday, the Reserves Committee had evidently over-ruled .the allocation agreed to, and had since advised the union that the Basin Reserve had been set apart for Rugby. next Saturday, the proceeds of the match to be devoted to the. Prince of, Wales Pa.rk Fund. Members present took exception to the League's reflections, and considered that the conclusions it had made ■ were premature. The Rugby Union had not received advice regarding the use of tlio Basin Reserve, next Saturday until Monday evening, and the advice was not placed before members until last night's meeting. The -union agreed to accept the Basin Reserve next Saturday.
