Sir Cecil Bod-weft Governor of. Fiji, arrived in Auckland by the Niagara, on Saturday, accompanied by his private secretary, Captain H. N. Garland. The Hon. W. H. Triggs and Mrs. Triggs, and Mr. T. K. Sidey, M.P.. were passengers by the Moeraki for Sydney this afternoon. Cr. C H. Chapman has received news of the death of his mother in England. ' Constable D. J. The/Professor is. head of the Architecture Department" of Sydney University, and one of the judges in the final award of_ the new University College for Auckland. Professor S. W. Foster, the leading entomologist of America, arrived at Auckland by the Niagara, accompanied by his wife. His object is to inspect orchard pests in New Zealand. Professor J. MacMillan Brown and Dr. W. H. Symes will leave Auckland on 23rd June, to visit Samoa, Tonga., and Fiji. Dr. Syraes proposes making researches in connection, with certain medical problems. '.<, The Rev. Hugh Warren Austin, M.A., Queen's College, Cambridge, has been appointed chaplain of the Collegiate School, Wanganui. Mr.' Austin, who is at present curate of the Cathedral, Nelson, served as.chaplain in the Imperial Army, =1915-1919, and was mentioned in despatches. The intermen of Mr. R. O. McCarthy, a returned soldier, who died at Trentham Hospital as the result of injuries caused through falling off a train on the | Hutt line, took place at Karori Cemetery this'morning. The funeral was of "a military character,\ the "Last Post" being sounded and a 1 volley being fired over the grave. Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P. (Mayor), and the Town Clerk (Mr. J. R. Palmer).' represented the City Council. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. : Father Murphy. Deceased served with the N.Z.E.F., and was badly! wounded at the front. . ,•
