"BISHOP" HOWARD AND PAET NER IN COURT.' ■
Isaac \ Haddon Iftriteiy alias John Howard, alias Henry Hunter, and Elizabeth, llahee Cuff, more, commonly Jcriown as "Bishop" Howard- and Madame Ratiee, appeared1, before Mr. F-. ( X.; Hunt,/S.M., in ihe Magistrate's Court1 to-day, charged as follows:—(1) "That on 26th April, at. Wellington they did exercise a kind of witchcraft designated, •by them as spiritualism, contrary to section 224 of the Justices of the feace Act, .1908," and. (2) "that on the same date they did unlawfully ..undertake .to tell fortunes." The two accused have been Conducting Sunday evening meetings in- the Paramount Theatre on tile subject of. "Theomonism," and have been subjected to considerable heckling. They were arrested on warrant yesterday afternoon by Detectives Andrews and Black* ..
, On the application of : Chief-Detective Wardj;.the two accused were renianded until Thursday next. Bail was allowed in the sum of £25 in each case. Mr. A. B. Sievwright appeared for the accused.
