LODGE MEETING
The fortnightly meeting of the Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24, 1.0.0. F. (A.C.), was held at the Oddfellows' Hall, Larhb-ton-quay, on Thursday evening, Bro. N. E. Nolan, N.G., presiding. There was a good attendance of members, and also many representatives of tho sister lodges —Zealandia (No. 48) and Cleveland (No. 13). After general business had been transacted, three nominees for membership were elected by ballot, and two candidates, were initiated into the mysteries of tho Order in duo form. The Lodge proposes building a. hall of its' own, but owing to tho intervention of two functions of importance, a committee report re building site, etc., was deferred till, next meeting. The District .Lodge (Wellington South, No. 5) was then convened by the retiring D.D:G.M. (Bro. C. T. Sullivan), and tho D.D.G.M.-elect (Bro. J. Edwards,' P.G.) duly installed, under Grand Lodge warrant, for the ensuing term. Other District^ Lodge elective officers installed were : District Secretary, Bro. H. Finch, P.D.D.G.M. ; Degree Master, Bro. H. Dames, P.G. ; Deputy Degree Master, Bto. F. J. Jones, P.G.; District Treasurer, Bro. &. F. Eudlon. A combined ceremonial by the several lodges, including Rebekah Lodge (Victoria, No. 2), was then held, under direction of the D.D.G.M. (Bro. J. Edwards), and in pursuance of proclamations by the Grand Sire, Sovereign Grand Lodge, and by the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, to commemorate the 102 nd anniversary of'foundation of the Ordwr (26th April, 1819). Relative proclamations were read by the secretary, and the prescribed ritual was conducted by Bro. J. Edwards, D.D.G.M., Bro. H. Dames, D.M., and Bro. F. J. Jones, P.G., Chaplain, Sister E. Mailey, P.N.G., playing anthems involved. The following functions were announced : 'Cleveland Lodge, Brooklyn, "Open Evening," 18th May; and "Zealandia Lodge, Newtown, "Hard-up Social," 19th May.
