WORKERS' TICKETS

10 IHB EDITOR. Sir, —In last evening's issue a correspondent referred to Councillor Dale's figures regarding workers' tickets, asking if the figures quoted were to be relied upon. Having been supplied by the Tramway Department, the public can rest assured they are correct, and the general public will quickly grasp, from a repetition of the figures, that a substantial loss has been made. The revenue per section of a two-section ticket ia .75d; for a three-section ticket .66d, and the cost of running is 1.27 d. The loss for the year is shown at £12,110, and must be borne by the ratepayers- as a. whole. Mr. Dale is absent from the city, so I take this opportunity of answering the letter.—l am, etc., A. W. PABTON. 22nd April. /
