YACHT AND MOTOR BOAT RACES

The Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat. Club (Incorp.) held tho final races of th« season on Saturday. Tho yacht race wsvs started af 2.50 p.m., when the Wanderer (scr), Romp (4|min), and Venus (Bmin 15soc) crossed tho lino almost in line. Thu wind being very light, the three yachts made very slow progress until well down the Bay, when they secured the assistance of a northerly wind. Tho Venus and Romp sailed almost on level terms, with the Wanderer close up. On the load swroas to Somes Island the Venus took tho lead, and w*s first rouud the buoy, the Rom\> and Wanderer following in that order, On tho run homo the Romp gradually drew up on the Venus and eventually crossed tho finishing lino 8 minutes ahead of Venus, tho Wandpror following 4 minutes later. The White Heather and Ata,lanta did not start. The Wanderer, by starting and finishing tho course, secured enough point 3 to enable her to win tho club championship for the year, the Venus being second, with only 5 points behind Wanderer. The result of the race was: Romp (4iniin), 2hrs 14min 31sec, i; Venus (Bmin 45scc), 2hrs 23min 23sec, 2; Wanderer (scr.), 2hrs 27min 65sec, 3. The motor boat race was started at 3 p.m., when only three boats faced tho starter—Tauft (scr), Caronia (22niin), and Foam (26min). Tho Taua wae first away with a good start, then followed Foam and Caronia. Tho Taua, gradually drew ahead, and the Caronia and Foam wore only separated by a boat's length on rounding tho buoy at Miramar.
