DEATH OF A WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT

The death of Mr* Peter Hattpn Miller, a well-known resident of the city, occurred under sad circumstances yesterday morning. At about 9 o'clock the deceased took a chair from his house in Carolinestreet to a Bhed at the rear of the place, and was then apparently quite rational. A little later, however, it was discovered that he had locked the shed from the inside. Upon further investigation, the deceased was found hanging from a rafter. The late Mr. Miller was 60 years of age, and a native of Melbourne. He had been in New Zealand for about 35 years, the greater portion of which time was spent in Wellington. He had been in poor health for some time. The deceased was a married roan.
