LONDON WOOL SALES.

The Bank of New Zealand has received the. following cable from its London office under date 16th April:—"The sales have closed firm owing to increased competitiou. There Is a moderate competition by Continental buyers, but Home buyers are quiet. Compared with the opening of this series there is no quotable change, but competition is keener. Current prices for wools of average condition are as folows: Coarse crossbreds, 36-40's, sid to 53d; medium crossbreds, <4-46's, 6jd to 7d; fine erosbreds, 50's, 9d to lOd; merinos, Inferior, lOd to lid; merinos, superior, Is Id to Is 4d; merinos, lmllbred, Is to Is Id." The N3W Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 15th April:—"Wool: Average current London value of the undernoted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool: Good inerino, 15d; medium merino, 12Jd; inferior merino, 9Jd; fina crossbred, 13d; medium crossbred, BJd; coarse crossbred, 40's, 6d; coarse crossbred, 36's, sid. Sales closed. Tone of market better owing to more.notlve Continental competition. As compared with prices at 6th April, merino and fine and medium crossbred are about 5 pei cent, dearer." Messrs. Murray, Roberts," and Co., Ltd., report the following cable advice from London, dated 15th April:—"Sales closed with hardening' •.tendency, good general competition; 75 per cert, of the offerings sold; Germany principal buyers. Compared with last London sales' closing rates merino,' best descriptions, nar to 5 per cent, decline; merino, good, par to 5 per cent, decline; merino, other descriptions, decline 10 per cent, to 15 per cent.; crossbred, scoured, declined 15 per cent.; crossbred, greasy fine, market shows no change; crossbred, greasy, medium, par to 5' per cent, decline; crossbred, coarse, declined 10 per cent." Levin and Co. have received tho following cable from London dated 15th April:—"Wool sales have closed with a more confident tone owing to German demand for 46's and 48' a quality. As compared with opening sales, the closing sales show that good and medium wools are dearer, flnt and coarse wools uuchanged."
