Increased popularity of the study of tho Gorman Janguagc in Japan is attested to by Dr. Dahlmann, Professor of German at the University of Tokio, in a letter printed by the Kolnische Volkszeit.ung. In 1920 there were 2720 students taking German, against 2480 in 1919^ and in the State Commercial College in Tokio there were as many students taking German as there were of all the other foreign languages together. Ths medical faculty of the university has made German one of its requirements, as has the law faculty.
The,sum given by Major David Davjes, M.P., the Welsh coal millionaire, towards tho increase of the stipends of minister* in tho Welsh Presbyterian Connexion is now stated to be £100,000.
