The imposition of the new standard wage of 2s 9d for carpenters was discussed at a meeting' of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, held on Saturday aftornoon, .but no statement was made as to any decision arrivod at. It is now reported that seventy men left work rather than continue at the lower scale of pay.
