A departmental report from Johore shows that India has some peculiar labour troubles. Labourers cannot be induced to work in surveying giings in certain districts, as they are continually harassed by tigers. One man-eater recently secured Ms fifth successive victim. It is reported from Lucknow that the traffic and running staffs of the Oudh Rohilkhand railway have struck. An extension of the trouble is expected, (Received. February 28, noon.) DELHI, 27th. February. The Government has refused the ra.ilwaymen's demand for advanced pay. Urgent efforts are being made to avoid a general strike, which seemingly is inevitable to-morrow. The latest official report from Tonk states that the disturbing features continue.
