BIG SCORE BY NORTH

PETONE AND HUTT ALSO WIN.

The senior cricket championship was advanced a further stage on Saturday afternoon under splendid conditions. At the Basin Reserve, North piled up a big score, and easily defeated Thorndon by an innings. Middleton, - increased his score of 104 not out to 133, a-nd Patrick contributed a good telly of 52. Thorndon's reply was only fair, King, Tilyard, Warne, a-nd Carruthers doing most pfthe scoring. Hutt accounted for Old Boys by seven wickets, Aldersley in Hutt's first innings carrying his bat for 88. Of other players Tullett (Hutt) "41 and 67, Ronaldson (Old Boys) 65, and Macintosh (Old Boys) 53, batted well. Petone secured -another good win, defeating East by ten wickets. ' M. Nicholls (56) did best with tlie bat, and Brice added another fine bowling performance to his credit—seven wickets for 56. Of other bowlers in the senior grade, Tucker(East) took five for.Bl.
