SCOUTS 1 DEMONSTRATION AT
LOWER HUTT
An inber©3tjng demonstration, of the work being pen-formed, 1 by the BoyScouts was given on the Lower Hutt ltecreation Ground on Satux'd.ay afternoon,, the object being to determine which troops should hold ' tha various trophies allotted to th« Wellington province for the "ensuing year. There were some 400 scouts on pirad©, and thair smartness and general efficiency greatly impressed the spectators. The following troops were represented :—Loww Hutt, St. Augustine's, St. Paula, St. Peter's! ICelburo, V.M.0.A., Maranui, Upper Hutt, St. Andrew's, Island Bay, Urutari&n, Trentham, Silveistream, Congregational, and Boys' Institute. Those present during the afternoon included! Colonel G. F. C. Campbell and' 'tbe Chief Oommissioner for th© DomHiion, Captain Oossgrove. The judges of the competitions were : Military drill and inarching (Wellington Banner), Captain Brooks; ajnbul'ance (R.hodes Ciip), Messrs. F. Wafrd! and Ji.. Richardson; signaJling (Moorhouse Cup), Mr. G. Pettitt; firemen's competition, Captain Slinn and lieutenant Doran; band events, Mr. G. Watson; march past, pole drill', and parade fire-lighting, Captain .Crossgrove. Mr. Lambert was responsible for the secretarial work.
The Wellington Banner, for the most points in physical drill and marching, went to the Kelburn. and -St. Paul's troops, the latter of whom have been th# holders for the pact three years. §t. Augustine's Troop (Petone) annexed th« Rhodes Cup (ambulance), and the Moorhouse Cup (semaphore signalling and nr«-l%hting) The White-house Shield (infantry and pole drill), waa -won, by Lower Hutt No. 1 Troop.
