NAPIER, 26th February. The match, 4.ustrafianK v. Hawkes Bay, was continued at Nelson Park. The attendance was about 2000, and there was brilliant sunshine, tempered by a pleasant breeze. The wicket was excel-, lent, and the outfield good. f Hawkes Bay, in the first innings, put up 168 runs for three hours 40 minutes' play (Bishop 61, Cane 33). The home team's batting was .generally very creditable, and favourably commented on by the Australians.

At the close of the day's play the visitors had lost four wickets for 87 runs. At one stage, the score was four'wickets for 54 ruus. Alcott proving a strong card with the ball. Kippax and Ransford made the stand for the fifth wicket, and both are still in, 34 and 16 respectively. The fielding on both sides was excellent. . ' ■ 0 Following are the scores:— HAWKES BAY.
