The House of Commons devoted a sitting to another iinemployment debate, arising out of Dr. Mnenamara's Bill to increase the insurance payments.
Mr. J. 11. Clynes urged that 18s was an affront. The benefit could be doubled by means of a State loan.
Sir Montague Bwlow replied that trade unions never paid more than 15s weekly, and usually 10s or 12s, so that the Government's 18s was not ungenerous. The Bill was read a second time. .[The Bill proposes that the unemployment benefit per man should bo increased from 15s to 18s, and that women should receive 15s, boys 9s Bd, and girls 7s 6d.] . .
