A bowling match for the Booth Cup was played in Masterton yesterday, and; resulted in the Park Club scoring 61 points and Masterton 57.

Five degrees of frost were ■ registered at Masterton yesterday morning. The Masterton FiTe Brigade team left for Napier yesterday, to take part in the demonstration.

The 1 Martinborough branch of the Farmers' Union yesterday passed a resolution strongly protesting against - the proposed increase in shipping freights.

The voting resulted as follows: —Parkvale candidate (Master , John Strang), 24,300 votes; Dalefield candidate (Master Basil Neilsen), 20,655 votes; Clareville candidate (Miss B. Allen), 17,940 votes; Belvedere candidate (Master George Edward Sewelll 12,550 votes. The gate takings at the fete amounted to 565.

Mr. C. Tunnicliffe and family, who are leaving Daleneld for Hastings, were farewelled by the settlers and presented with an aiternoon tea service.

A reunion of early settlers was held at Cartevton yesterday, the visitors from Wellington arriving; by the mail train. The visitors were later entertained at luncheon, and in the afternoon attended the fete.
