Captain F. P. Evans, who brought the Union Company's hew' steamer Waiotapu out-from Home, has resigned from the company s service, and intends to enter into business on his own account in Sydney.
Mr. D. 6we.n> seebnd officer of the Komata, has been succeeded on that vessel by Mr. a Sharp*. ' . '
Mr. J. W. Preston, of tne Union Company's head office, Dunedin, is on^.a visit to Wellington. Mr. H. Theeman, second officer of fclio Kahika, signed off the vessels articles at Lyttelton on Tuesday last.
The Northumberland left Auckland early yesterday afternoon for/Wellington, , Thfe vessel is due hero tomorrow, to discharge some 3000 tons of New York cargo* The Federal Line are the agent^. The S. S.-and A. liner Maipioa left Newcastle at 5 o'clock yesterday inprning to load for the United Kingdom at Auckland. The vessel is due at the northern port on Monday afternoon.
It is expected that the Federal liner Durham will leave Wellington on Sunday morning for Liverpool, via the Panama Canal.
