PARAMOUNT AND ARTCRAFT.
"Deep Waters," the screen, version of F. Hopkinson Smith's novel, "Caleb Smith, Master Diver," is pleasing patrons at the Paramount and Artcraffc Theatres. A capital story has been finely pictured. The love match of Caleb West and Betty, his girl bride, is a fishing village idyll, and when young Lacey's advent causes trouble, the deyelopment of the drama becomes tense with stirring situations. Barbara Bedford heads an exceptional cast as Betty, and co-starred with her are Jack Gilbert, Broerkeii Christians, Florence Deshon, Jack M'Donald, and others. A breezy comedy of penitentiary and newspaper office, "The Jailbird," gives Douglas M'Lean and Doris May still further scope;' A Mack' Sennett comedy, "It's a Boy," featuring Louise Fazenda and Charles Mtirr&yy is also on the exceptional bill. ■ With high-class orchestral accompaniments, the new programme should score a pronounced success.
