. LONDON, 2nd December. New Zealunders will be interested to hear that Rear-Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey, G.C.V.0., K.C.M.G., C.8., has. been appointed by the Prince of Wales Comptroller and Treasurer to His Royal Highness in succession to the Hon. Sir Sidney Greville, X.C.V.0., C.8.,,wh0 has resigned tho office which he had held since 1915 ,
Relative to the appointment The Times remarks that' Sir Lionel Halsey made an admirable Chief of Staff during the Prince's visits to Canada, New Zealand, and^Australia, when his.energy and devotion to the Prince were untiring. The qualities which ho possesses went very far. "Whether he will develop the other qualities which are indispensable in a Comptroller of the Household remains' to be seen. The friend, Sir Lionel Halsey will have no difficulty in b_ein£ to the Prince; but ho will need to ujso to the height of guide and philosopher as well." Relative to the appointment The Evening Standard comments that it has created much interest. "Qualities of a high order are required in the head of a Prince of Wales's Household. He must be a man of affairs, and also of infinite tact and discretion."
