WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIPS..
The increased interest ,in amateur athletic sports is shown by-the record entries received for th^e, New Zealand. Amateur Athlotio. Championships to sbe held at tho Basin Reserve -to-morrow, week.,:. PTepariitjons to ijiake the occasion a notable one are 'well under way,'and there is every prospect of a big meeting. With .competitors from, all parts of the Wellington district, "every event will be keenly, contested. An additional attraction will be cycle rac«s, and special events are included' on the for senior cadets, and these, it is expected, will draw, upwards of 50 entries. Among the., notable competitors for championships wijl be ,G. Harvey (pole vault), H.. E- Wilson (hurdles and -sprint). B. Loyell ; (high jump), P. Munro (puttins the Bhot), and Seatchard (distance running). Munro expecta to lower the New Zealand* sliot-put-ting record, and Soatchard will make a. simil»r effort in the three-mile race.. Wilson is' also .expected to give a fine performance . over tlie;hurdlcs. The mooting is. to commence at 2 p.m. The arrangomenta are being carried out by Messrs. J. P'Sullivan (secretary), A. C. Kitto (hannicapper), and a- strong committee. .
