It was decided at the Thomdon Methodist quarterly meeting that a recommendation be made to the.Methodist Council to endeavour to locate, and suitably mark the place of the first Gospel service conducted in Wellington:, which it is believed to have been led by a minister of the Methodist Church, wlio had walked from Auckland.
Tho Commissioner of Taxes notifies that tHe due date of payment of tho income tax and special war tax is on Monday, 7th February. Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before 28th February. Tho demands will be posted from the-office of tho Commissioner on or about 31st January. ■ It should be noted that individuals^whoso surnames commence with the letters I, J, X, N, 0, P will not recci-ie their demands until some days later. In these cases a new duo date—viz., 21§t February, 1921 —will be fixed under section 127. Additional tax will acorue twentyone days thereafter. Messrs. Williams and. Co., Ltd., will sell pianos and furniture- at the Auction Arcade,' Courtenay-pl., to-morrow, at 8 p.m. ' '
