DUNEDIN, 19th January. The first wool sale here since the Government commandeer in 1916 opened this afternoon, when 9809 bales were offered to a good attendance of Home and colonial buyers. The sale opened at 2 p.m., and by 11 o'clock approximately 75 per .cent, of the lots 'had-'been cleared at prices that under prevailing conditions must be considered satisfactory. The sales will be continued to-morrow. So far super merinos have been sold up -to 21_d, super half-bred to 18id, arid super crossbreds to- 13d.
