"IRENE."
- The delightfully olewer and original muscial comody, "Irene," which the J. and N. Tait uompaay 'has introduced to Wellington, drew another large audience to the Grand Opera House last evening.. ,The performance sparkles with originality and interesting episodes from the rise to the fall of the curtain'; tho orchestral and vocal music is . very charming, and the costumings and staging generally befit the high quality of the, production. Miss Dorothy South ; makes a cliarming and graceful "Irene," and her vocal .contributions were again especially popular. Robert Jewett, as Donaild Marshall, the principal male' character, was also again a prime favourite. He has a very fine baritone, which he uses to the best effect in tho numbers that fall to him. The amusing roles allotted to Mr. Chester Chute and Mr. Thomas Paunceforte were cleverly ' filled. The performance will be repeated this evening. ' -' , •
